We're in a great season of teaching the kids about Jesus - 'shepherding their hearts'. They are learning sooooo much and it is so fun to see them really want to know more of Jesus and get excited about it. I've tried to do a couple of new things lately. Asa recently got a new journal that is just for his 'notes to God'. He loves it and it is so precious to see some of the things he wants to write, pray, ask, and thank God for.
So the other thing I've tried to be really intentional about is learning and memorizing scripture. We've started picking a verse out and printing it on a sheet of paper and posting it on their surfboard corkboards above their beds. Asa is TOTALLY into it. The verse he just learned is Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the Life, No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 Once he could read it on his board, he had it memorized in one day.
So, not to be out done, Eli wanted to pick a verse out of his devotion book, so we picked 'Jesus said, "Follow me" (abbreviated).Matthew 4:19 So tonight, we printed E's out and put it on his surfboard.
A few minutes after we put them to bed tonight, the boys were talking quietly and then called out to Mark and me,
Asa: "Hey!! I know another Bible verse!'
Mark: You do? What is it?
Asa: Jesus said, 'Always cover your mouth when you burp.'
Mark and I almost fell over. I don't think Jesus said that. But he probably should have.
Snoring...
Asa is totally into Star Wars these days. Last night, he decided he was going to bed as Darth Vader with his Batman cape. All the while, breathing heavily like Vader. Being concerned about Darth Vader choking in his sleep I tell him this is not a good idea. He tried to convince me that Darth Vader sleeps in his cape - I tell him that he's never actually seen Darth Vader sleeping and that I'm certain that he hangs his cape on his bedside table until he puts it back on before breakfast. Asa obliges - all the while breathing heavily like Darth Vader.
As he climbs into bed (still breathing deeply), he lays his head on the pillow and says, "I wonder how Darth Vader snores?"

Amazing. I love your kids and I love you.
Could your kids come and tutor Levi about Jesus's teachings one day?
that would be priceless.
Hey AMY!! Precious! Heard you were in town. Wish I could have hugged your neck...we're at StoneBridge. I loved the grotesque bedtime stories. I started a blog recently. My first post had a few grotesque stories as well. Maybe you can tell those to the boys tonight. Love to you all.
Out of the mouths of babes.
Hey!! This is SO funny... what FUN things I have to look forward to - huh? Life with BOYS!!!!
That's the best thing I've heard this year. This whole year.
